Even in the UK where we have free health treatment drugs are not always given to patients. We have a government department NICE (national institute for clinical excellence) that looks at drugs and deciedes if that drug should be able to be supplied based on cost and effectiveness of the spend. This was to try and stop postcode pescribing where in one street your doctor might deceide to pay for a drug yet in the next street at another doctors they may not.

Drug spending is a huge issue in the NHS whn I was setting budgets it was always the biggest increse year on year and was always overspent whatever we set it at, not good when trying to implement cost improvements.

Pharmacy companies are in it for profit not just improving peoples lives.

i agree, it all comes down to doing what is most profitable. the primary goal of managment should always be to maximize the NPV of all future cash flows (profits, to max shareholder wealth) of the firm. that is the overall goal of any successful firm. However, to achieve this goal in almost ALL CASES, you cannot purposefully or frequently aggrevate customers. if you do this you:

1) lose repeat buyers (and therefore lose long term profits)

2) ruin your reputation and making it exceedingly difficult to acquire new customers

in other words, to succeed in a firms overall goal (max shareholder NPV) you need to complete lots of other goals which includes satisfying customer needs and wants. you certainly dont satisfy customer needs/wants by freuqnetly and deliberately pissing them off.

i have no clue where you get the idea that this is how you can successfully do business. maybe you have absolutely no business sense or education or maybe you are just plain retarded.

Dude, get a grip. Party’s decision makes perfect sense and is obviously correct.

First off, they are not pissing their customers off – they are potentially pissing the skins customers off.

Second, they are not pissing off the skins customers – they are causing a minor inconvenience for most, and only potentially pissing off a tiny %. They haven’t even truly pissed people off yet since rakeback is likely to still be offered at Party – this is still being resolved.

Third, the economic cost to them is relatively low, since the hard core multitablers have limited other options. Pissing off a small number won’t cost them that much.

Fourth, doing this opens up hugely profitable other opportunities to them, which way more than offsets any losses from immature multitablers. Do you have any idea how profitable casino players are in relation to poker players?

Fifth, try thinking for yourself, instead of spouting off generic customer service bullshit you can read in the bookstore. Break down the profitability by customer segment – the public sources are all there.

Lastly I have an MBA from top 5 business school and get paid to run a $300MM brand for a Fortune 500 company for a living, so look in the mirror for the retard, and stop being such a douchebag in your responses.
