Default 4th street - one hand, three possibilities

I didn't play this hand, but I'm curious about seat 2's check-call on 4th.

7 Card Stud High-Low ($0.25/$0.50), Ante $0.05, Bring-In $0.10 (converter)

3rd Street - (1.60 SB)

Hero: J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___folds
Seat 2: xx xx 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___calls
Seat 3: xx xx 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___folds
Seat 4: xx xx 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___folds
Seat 5: xx xx 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___folds
Seat 6: xx xx 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___calls
Seat 7: xx xx J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___folds
Seat 8: xx xx 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___brings-in

4th Street - (2.80 SB)

Seat 2: xx xx 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___checks___calls
Seat 6: xx xx 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___bets
Seat 8: xx xx 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___checks___folds

Seat 2 ended up going to the showdown. His hole cards at the end were J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. I'm curious what the apporpriate play would be for the three possible combinations.

1) (4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] - I would think that this hand is worth pursuing a farther as the low is better than 85 and the pair is possibly putting him ahead for high. In fact, this hand might be worth betting instead of checking.

2) (J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] - This hand seems like it should be a fold. It's a very weak one way hand in a small pot against a low hand. This is a situation which should be avoided.

3) (J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] - I don't know what to do with this hand. I guess I would fold because the pot is small, but it would not be a very confident fold.

So if I'm right, there's no way that seat 2 could have played this hand correctly...

With config 1 I probably call on 3rd and check call 4th.

Second config easy fold third, same with the third configuration.

Why would you check 4th?

I'm guessing he didn't want to bet 4th because even though he's showing a better low, the suited 85 (who might actually have 4 to a low) will call anyway. But since 85 closes the action, I think there's a good chance 47 thinks he'll let it check through and get a free card.
