Default \"Suckout Hand\" but need feedback on my play

Was my PF raise too small at 2.5xBB? I was hoping to get some action as my last couple of 3x raises only won the blinds.

Was my re-raise to UTG too large? I didn't put either of opponent's on flopping sets. Since they both cold called my raise PF, I didn't think KK was out there, nor 44/55.

What about my push after MP2's all-in and UTG calling? Should I have just called also and folded on the turn? I did have a shot at a backdoor nut draw. It would have been a tough decision for me to lay down on the turn.

Do you think villain was playing reckless by risking so many of his chips on this play? He was calling two people who went over the top of his initial raise with 2nd pair and a weak draw.

I know this is a Bad Beat but I'm looking more for advice on if my playing was correct, regardless of results. I can live with busting out as long as my play was goot.

Thanks, Steve

Ummm..okay, thanks Zaxx.

I did play this decisively as I felt I had the best hand at the time and wanted to charge the drawing hands.

Anyone else?

Also why the hell would you automatically discount the possibility of 44-55 here?? God bless you guys who play overpairs like this though you are usually the ones that double me up in the first hour so keep trucking and laughing at my advice lol. OH and how bout 67 suited thats my favorite suited connecting hand...I guess in poker you see what you want, and im guessing your not gonna see a dangeoruse board unless it is 789 all of the same suit. So yes, if your gonna look at almost every flop as safe then yes you are gonna need to make a lil more than a mini raise lol.

To answer your questions...

Yes, I would have raised more preflop. When UTG limps, I'd automatically raise it to 800. If it was folded to me, I'd open for at least 600 (3xBB). Not saying that changes the outcome here, but I don't like to raise a smaller amount with premium hands. Make a standard raise (3xBB is usually sufficient for tournaments), and add to it based on how many limpers there are in front of you.

Post flop, you played it fine. Yes, you're right, this was a bad beat. You got all your chips in when you were ahead, what more can you ask for?

Hey DVC,

I think the key mistake was the small pre-flop raise. I would have raised more PF - I do not want to play this against four players. My rule of thumb is 3BB + 1BB per limper. With the limper in front and a small raise, players in LP are getting pretty good odds to come along. (500 into a 900 pot for MP2, 500/1400 for MP3, and after that BB and UTG have to play even if they have 72o.)

I would probably have raised the pot on the flop - with str8 and flush possibilites on the board you are giving drawing hands wonderful odds to come along. That said, I don't know how you get away from aces with that kind of board.

And, for what it's worth, this isn't a bad beat. You were behind when you pushed:

pokenum -h ac ad - 5c 6c - kd th -- kc 5h 4c
Holdem Hi: 903 enumerated boards containing Kc 4c 5h

6c 5c 431 47.73 472 52.27 0 0.00 0.477
Kd Th 116 12.85 787 87.15 0 0.00 0.128
