Default \"Extra\" fees to ship to Canada?

To those canadians out there, how much did you have to pay for duty on a 2001FP when you bought on ebay from a US seller? Also, I have heard that there can be horrible "brokerage" fees from UPS ground when using them to ship over the border, has anyone had any experience with that?

Don't send anything UPS to Canada. I ordered some computer parts, < $100 value and small packages. I paid approximately $70 in "brokerage charges" to UPS. I just get anything sent USPS now (basic postal).

What about Fedex? Does it have similar charges when coming over the border?

fedex, ups if shipped by ground will both charge brokerage fees, maybe around 50 dollars, if its shipped by air, they dont charge. anything by USPS sucks, ground can take up to 2 months. If you phone ups or fedex, and give them the tracking number, you can tell them you'll do the paper work yourself, its pretty easy, adn you save the brokerage fees. You would pick up the paper work at their office when the monitor arrives, take it to customs (they are sally very close together), where they fill it out and stamp it, then bring it back to ups or fedex and get your monitor

You should be able to get any needed forms from the CBSA page as well as from the carrier and clear the shipment yourself with relative ease, assuming you're near a customs office.

If the shipment value is under 1,000.00 USD, the only paperwork needed is a commercial invoice with the following information present:

# Shipper's name
# Origin address (include country of origin)
# Consignee's name
# Destination full address
# Shipper's or Consignee's order number
# Shipment gross weight
# Number each piece in the consignment
