preflop q: raise w/ 88 from CO with 4 limpers?
I have the following question about pre-flop play. Suppose that you're in the cut-off, and four people limp. You look down at pocket 8s.
Would you ever consider raising? Here are some advantages that I see to raising: 1. You might buy yourself the button. 2. You might buy a free card in case you don't hit a set on the flop. 3. You might force out one or both of the blinds and buy a little extra equity in the pot. |

It really depends on the limpers and stuff. Raising is a good idea though.

In a loose passive game definitely, its almost a guarenteed 4 cards because everyone will check to you. If its a tough game prob just limp.

I like a raise here and checking through a flop with any paint. Sometimes betting the flop hoping to get a free look at the river will be good too.
I love when I get to raise maginal hands in late position (not that this really is) and then show them down. The look people give you playing live is priceless. |

i like calling here... more often than not your going to need a set to win against 4 limpers and unless the blinds are really tight your not going to get both of them to fold. and if overcards come on the flop your folding to a bet and you cant expect 6 people to check to you? on a small flop everyone may check, you bet and everyone calls?
i say see the flop for cheap and go from there |
