Default Sklansky, Philips, true masters?

Hi,
I'm new to this forum, new to poker as well (fish). I have on the other hand made great success in some other walks of life.

Being new to this forum, something surprises me. Sklansky and Philips and in my opinion some other top players (not so conclusive evidence so I won't name them in case I am wrong) very often answer arrogantly when opposed.

I will never become as good as these players, but I know that the day your mentality has become such, you are just a sitting duck waiting to be outclassed by more open-minded challengers.

The real master is the one who realizes that he just borrowes that title and does not own it.

Sklansky is an egotist, that's already been established. I have to agree with your comment about Paul Phillips being arrogant in his replys but when you consider the amount of garbage some people post on these forums, it's hard not to think yourself above them.

Are you speaking of Phillips or "yourself"? Seems you are the one doing the talking. And who established that David Sklansky is an egotist? When you speak of "garbage on this forum" start with your own remarks.

This forum attracts posts by people who actually play in the televised events as well as people who just watch them on TV and are not serious players. It is hard for a top player to respond to some of the silly posts.

The two mid-high stakes holdem forums and the two other tournament poker forums, for example, have posters who are mostly knowledgable card players, some of them professionals, but generally not big name professionals.

Those knowledgable players seem to be much more humble and searching.
