A7o, well played?
10/20 6 max at Party. Folded to me and I raise with A7o from the cutoff. A super loose player 3 bets it from the SB. He sees lots of flops (VP$IP > 80%) and raises and re-raises with his good hands. He can get a little tricky postflop. Anyway, I call and we take the flop heads up.
The flop is A Q 4 rainbow. He checks, I check. The turn pairs the Q. He bets, I call. The river is some blank. He bets, I call. Who bets this flop? How did I play the hand in general? |

I bet because he will call
Also, next time you raise, what are you going to do when you miss; bet? Patterns like that might be picked up. It is better to just bet out. I "might" like your play if you raised the turn or river but I would still bet T |

Re: A7o, well played?
I think you misread the preflop action. He 3 bet and then checked to me on the flop.

[ QUOTE ]
I think you misread the preflop action. He 3 bet and then checked to me on the flop. [/ QUOTE ] Or maybe he is just not giving too much respect to a pre-flop 3-bet from this guy, which is what I would also do since (1) he is 3 betting a possible steal from you, and (2) with VP$IP, he probably also raises too much. If assumption (2) is wrong, and this guy was selective about raising/3-betting, then your line looks good -- especially if his flop check is likely to indicate strength. But if his PFR is more like 25-30%, then you missed a bet. |
