Default Going to London

I will be in London for the weekend and wondering if anyone knows any good casinos or games out there. Any help is appreciated.

If you want a HE tournament try Gutshot. It is in North London.

http://www.gutshot.co.uk/livecardroom.php is their website. It is a friendly club and the competition is quite soft. They have cash games which generally start as soon as people bust out of the tourney.

There is a casino called the Vic in more Central London. I have never played in it.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any more questions.

For the casinos you need to become a member and you need to wait 24 hours before you can play. Plus there is a dress code, so you need to wear shoes and a something decent - I don't think you need a tie. Most of the casinos do not have poker, so you need to find out which ones do.

The one that I went to was near Marble Arch. I can't remember the name right now. The only game they had going was pot-limit Omaha. Don't expect to find any limit games.

I've played in the Grosvenor Victoria. It's located on Edware Rd. right near the tube stop. They do have a dress code, but it's not that strict. Corporate casual. Shirt, shoes, trousers. I've been allowed in wearing a sweater. All games are played PL. The few times I went, they had hold'em as well as Omaha. As MaxPower said, there's a 24 hour wait after you register, so if you're only staying for a weekend, I recommend that you register as soon as you get there.

If you knew the answer why not post in the other thread.

Gustshot can become a memeber when you turn up, but will need a passport/driving licence.

If you want to play tournaments the Gutshot is probably the place to go. For cash games the Vic would be better. The Vic spreads a 100 pound buy-in Pot Limit Holdem game every night, and the same buy-in Omaha. It also spreads a 50 pound Pot limit holdem and often a round of each game at that level. The 50 pound games are 'deal yourself' games, IE no dealer is provided. There is also a bigger game, this will usually either be a 250 or 500 Omaha or dealers choice game. The holdem games are very good, but do play reasonanably big, as it is not uncommon to see an average chip stack of 1000pounds in the hundred game.

As has been mentioned previously you do need to become a member of the Vic in advance, but you can do this by fax/email. If you give the Vic a call they will be able to explain the process.
