Default Hand distributions

In TTP, Chapter 24 Analysis at the Table, page 247, it states that you need to go through four steps in deciding on your best play. First determine the possible hands your opponent may have. Secondly assess the chances of his having each of his possible hands.

My question is how do you assess the chances of his having each of his possible hands?

On page 249 it talks about draw poker distribution, that your opponent will have three-of-a-kind about 65 percent of the time and a pat hand about 35 percent of the time. What are distributions? Are there holdem distributions? How are they calculated? Is there a list somewhere?

Thanking you in advance.

My question is how do you assess the chances of his having each of his possible hands?

Simple example. You hold AKo and called a raise from the BB.

flop comes K-Q-x rainbow. You bet and your opponent raises. Youn determine that he'd make this play holding AA, KK, QQ, AK or KQ. You know where 1A, 2K and 1Q are. Thus there are
the following possible card combinations he can hold:

AA - 3 ways
KK - 1 way
QQ - 3 ways
AK - 6 ways
KQ - 6 ways

Thus you are ahead 6/19 of the time, tied 6/19 of the time, and behind 7/19 of the time.

Remind me which of these situations he's ahead in again?

The 7 ways he refers to:

KK (1) [trips] + KQ (6) [two pairs] = 7 ways he's ahead if flop is K-Q-x, and you have AK [one pair top kicker]

My brain was in a fog when I posted this. Glad to see somebody was paying attention. I had AQ in the mix when I was thinking about the situation and screwed it all up while posting. I'll correct it.

KK - 1 way
QQ - 3 ways
AK - 6 ways
AQ - 9 ways
KQ - 6 ways

Thus you are ahead 9/28 of the time, tied 6/28 of the time, and behind 13/28 of the time.
