Do you think Racial Profiling is useful as a terrorism prevention screening technique?

By racial profiling, I basically mean screening muslims and arabs more thoroughly than say hispanics, asians, germans and whites.

I don't care about political correctness in this question, I already know that it isn't PC. The question is regarding effectiveness.

Give your reasoning too.

It is always a tradeoff between civil liberties and effectiveness, and you've got to be able to walk that line very, very well. What kind of measures would you have us implement?

Yes. See El Al Airlines. They had a plane hijacked 30 years or so ago. They honed their security techniques and unashamedly practice racial profiling. A plane has not been taken since, despite the fact that this would be a major prize for terrorists.

Of course it would help. Moslems/ Arabs have proven to be more likely to be terrorists.

We need to allow law enforcement to question people they think are suspicious, without being second guessed. My guess is this will result in more Arab males being searched, and fewer children and grandparents.

I agree with you but also the pilots are armed. That might have something to do with it.
I think there is nothing wrong wit racial profiling. To my knowledge, the terrorists have not been 60 year old woman with blond hair and blue eyes!

Extra attention is there for a reason. Racial profiling doesn't mean giving a pass to white guys or any other non-Arabic/Islamic race, or at the very least, I hope it doesn't...
