Chris Angel Mindfreak
I saw bits and pieces of this last night. The 2 parts that blew me away were the ones where he walks down the building and where he crawls through the plate glass window of the shop without ever breaking the glass. I was playing some game we're not supposed to talk about it OOT last night and this guy was saying that he saw Angel perform in downtown boston last year where he performed that same glass trick with a twist:
Standing in front of a CLOSED jewelry store, Angel picks a woman out of the crowd, brings her over to where he's standing near the storefront window and compliments her on her watch. He asked her to take the watch off her wrist and hold it in her hand and close her hand around it. When she opened her hand a few moments later the watch is gone. The crowd is all "ooooh and ahhhh" but then Angel looks in the store through the window and says "that looks like your watch." There, sitting on the counter of the closed jewelry store, is the woman's watch! He then does the paper-over-the-window thing and proceeds to put his hand through the window (my friend says he saw his hand IN the store...but who knows really) grab the watch and pull it back out without ever breaking the glass. I mean, wtf??? Anyone have any theories? |

Re: Chris Angel Mindfreak
I read how he did this. After he takes the watch, he does some kind of distraction and passes the watch off to a "pedestrian" who is actually his assistant. The storefront is a setup, and when he puts the newspaper over the glass, the glass slides to the side, revealing a hole. He reaches through, takes the watch, and continues holding up the paper until the glass slides back in place.

Re: Chris Angel Mindfreak
That makes perfect sense. How does the watch get inside the closed store though? (I'm thinking the store wasn't 'closed.'

Re: Chris Angel Mindfreak
Tricks that rely on such heavy preparation and require undercover assistants aren't cool to me. I like easier, sleight of hand magic.
