Re: Blind battle hand...
Nothing disgusting about this at all. With no read, its really up in the air some. Raising preflop is an option. He limped... what more do you need to know? Saying that, checking preflop is standard.
The flop is the biggest decision. You have top pair in a heads up blind situation, you are getting to showdown. He checks, you bet. Standard, not close. He raises. Now is where you can deviate based on read. An alterative to the line you took would be to just call his raise, and let him fire turn and river. You can raise if you improve. Call down without improvement. Or raise the river unimproved, so long as the board doesn't get nasty. All that being said, nothing is wrong with 3 betting and shutting down to the cap. So, what I am trying to say. Is with no read, any of these can be right, it just depends on your style. 3 betting the flop will increase your SD. Just calling the raise and going into call when bet into and bet when checked to mode, will lower your SD. However, it might lose you a little bit of EV. So, the answer, it really depends. i hate this game, truth |
