Default JJ hand, tossed on the turn

mucks 10-20. must move game. Great game. Lots of casual players who talk like wannabes.

I open with JJ, Folded to LP/button who 3 bets promptly. 2 to the flop.

LP is a conservative guy. Passive in many ways.

Flop: 9 high monotone. I don't have one.

Check, bet, call

Turn: some blank

Check, bet, I fold.

There no way he plays AK like this, especially given your flop check?

I bet out on the flop, especially if his calling, rather than raising, would indicate AK.

You're making a very specific read, which I think is great if justified but pretty bad otherwise.

He wouldn't have bet the turn with that hand. Big bets scare conservos if they don't have a made hand of some sort.

This player, like many others on the table, very likely might not actually 3 bet AK preflop. Especially into an EP raiser. This is w/o factoring in my image. Remember his description.

This is one reason I love live play over online play. Though you can get this read online at times.

Would you say his range is AA-TT then?

Consider what a conservo/passive player is likely to 3 bet preflop with. You really think he'd do that with TT or AQ?

This is a pretty read dependent play. If im on autopilot with my 4-6 tables, im not making this laydown...unless the guy has a pfr of 1% and ive got several hundred hands with him. But live you can easily make this laydown.

AQ = NEVER!

TT isn't unthinkable. But if you know his range of hands he would bet the turn with is QQ-AA, seems like an easy play, with only 1.5 outs.
