Default Dell 2001FP Monitor Question

I've read a number of threads regarding this item and am thinking about buying it to hook up to my laptop - a Dell Inspiron 600m. My video card is a ATI Mobility Radeon 9000-- on the laptop screen this only provides a max resolution of 1024x768.

My question is: will I have to get a new video card in order to get the max resolution out of the 2001FP if/when I buy it?

If so, any reccomendations on a card and how much it may set me back?

I don't believe it's your video card holding back your resolution but rather the laptop's screen. I'd think you'd be fine with a 2001FP without upgrading your vid card. I could be wrong though.

Try this, right click on the desktop, click on properties, go the settings tab. There should be something about extending your desktop to another monitor. Click on the second monitor to get that. Then you should be able to move the resolution to the max to see what you can output to.
