Default $4-8 5 Card Stud hand.

(accidentally posted in different forum first, sorry for the duplication if you saw this already).

Paradise $4-8 5CS with $1 ante.

Player 1: [X] 4c
Player 2 (Me): [Ah] As
Player 3: [X] Ad

Player 1 brings it in for $2, I raise to $4. Player 3 reraises to $6, Player 1 folds, I call.

3rd Street:
Me: [Ah] As 3d
P3: [X] Ad Qc

P3 bets $4, I call.

4th Street:
Me: [Ah] As 3d 5s
P3: [X] Ad Qc 9h

P3 bets $8, I raise, P3 calls.

River:

Me: [Ah] As 3d 5s 3s
P3: [X] Ad Qc 9h Ac

P3 bets $8, I raise, P3 folds.

Comments on all streets appreciated, particularly the river. I'm not sure my raise there is +EV or not as I had no clue if my opponent would call "in case I was bluffing".

Also, any other general 5CS comments welcome. I actually like this game.

On the first round, your opponent raised to $8, right?

Seems like you played it just fine. It's pretty clear that you're likely way ahead, so just calling on the first couple of rounds seems like the way to go. I don't think your river raise has positive expectation, though.

5 card stud has to be the most boring form of poker in existence. However, if you can get lots of action with (A)A, the game should be beatable for good money.

I'm not sure I like your 4th street raise. Your opponent has to be drawing nearly dead. I'd hate to see him fold.

On the river I would worry a bit about a bigger aces up, especially since he bet into you again. Of course, he might have just put you on a smaller two pair, and bet into you because of his read...but I think a bigger aces-up or a bluff are the two most likely hands he holds, considering his 4th street and river bet. Either you win 8 dollars or loose 16 here.

Of course, I could be wrong. I have not played five-card stud since the eighties.
