Default Requesting sad violin music about a case hand on Party 5/10...

OK here is the hand.......
Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
6 folds, Hero calls, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (3 SB) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks.

Turn: (1.50 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB bets, BB folds, Hero calls.

River: (3.50 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, SB calls.

Final Pot: 5.50 BB

So, after the hand ends I check out the qualifications for the "Party Poker High Hand Jackpot", and I actually thought I won the prize.
I didn't realize that I wasn't at an elligible table until I got a return email from Party telling me so. So OK everyone, go ahead and laugh at me. I must say I have to laugh after coming this close to $1550 and not getting it because I wasn't at a "jackpot" table. I fulfilled every other qualification, and I even had the pleasure of being teased by Party's first email response, which said, "congratulations on winning a high hand jackpot", but they later clarified their congratulatory response as, "oh, we meant congratulations on hitting the ultimate poker hand," which I thought was really lame. Anyway, this is my sad royal flush story -- the only royal I've ever hit. So go ahead and dog me for not winning the jackpot now-because this was indeed submitted for your entertainment.

If you thought you were winning the jackpot, why did you bet the river?

Also this is really low content, you should at least put "low content in your description" or even better don't post at all. See recent post about people posting too much garbage, it's killing the forum and your causing good posters to leave.

2 things:

1. Who the [censored] are you?
2. Low content would be something that isn't of value like, say, your original post. It would not be a message which advises a poster against an egregious error like open-limping on the button with this hand.

I'm a forum reader who has been reading alot less because of the huge volume of low content/simple posts.

Yes, I agree, the advice on raising here on button is of immense value, it's a poker must! And so if indirectly, the poster learns this it will be valuable. I concede there was some value here for anyone who would limp here.

But the post wasn't about this, it was about a missed jackpot. Yes, the player was in $5/$10,so this is the right forum, but the spirit of the e-mail is very low content.

Anyway's, this will be my last reply in this thread, since then I am be doing what I was criticizing. I just would like new posters to be mindful about starting new threads.

Apologies for wasting serious readers time.

The only good play in this hand is that you are not at the jackpot tables.

I am assuming the jackpot tables take an extra fee from the pot, which is at best +0 in EV, while adding a whole lot of unecessary variance.

I hate the pre-flop limp and the flop check. Now that I realize he lost a customer on the turn, I don't hate the call, but would still raise. Obviously, the river bet is right. Hero won 3BB in a 3-way pot with a royal flush. Not much good about that.

I don't understand why you think that playing at the jackpot tables would add variance?

Let me put it this way...

Re-read the OP's hand post. Look at the open-limp on the button. Look at the missed bets on the flop check. If you think you can't overcome the extra $.50 jackpot drop playing against players who play this poorly just because it's a "JackPot Table" - then fine. I'm glad to keep the extra $$$ for myself.
