Default I\'ve been looking for a good book on game theory

Anyone know of a good introductory book for game theory? I've been looking for a book that emphasizes a pure mathematical approach to game theory. What I mean by that is a book on game theory that is just as rigorous, mathematically, as a book you would find on algebra or topology. But can still be understood by someone who has never been introduced to the subject of game theory.

Any suggestions?

Tom Ferguson (father of Chris "Jesus" Ferguson) has an excellent into to game theory that you can download for free in pdf format:

Hi ben,

You may find out that game theory isn't really what you're looking for, because game theory really doesn't have a lot to do with games. It has to do with multiple-decision-maker matrices ("The Prisoner's Dilema" is a common, simple example). If you're looking for the ins and outs of odds, you're looking for probability theory rather than game theory.

What I have found is that there is a huge misconception about poker. You aren't going to find that "Game Theory", as in John Nash's theory, is going to help you.

Also strangley I saw Anne Duke on letterman saying one of the reasons she was such a good poker player was because she studied statistics and physics in college.
From what I understand she is talking about the statistical mechanics from thermodynamics. However I still cannot see how this would apply to poker. I think the straight odds game that you read in "The thoery for poker" is as mathematically intensive as it gets.

Have you read the "Party Poker cracked" book. It is excellent if you plan on playing online.
