Re: AQo Party $10/20 hand
It's a fold every time, unless raiser is a donk. Then it simply depends on how much of an idiot he is.

Am I the only one that dislikes the flop raise?

This has sparked some discussion among friends [/ QUOTE ] im curious as to your reasoning in this hand. seems like a real easy turn fold to me. did you have any read on villian that you didnt include. i just dont see what you are beating here other than a complete bluff, and most of your outs are partial at best. |

Re: AQo Party $10/20 hand
Folding preflop is kind of lame. How about reraising?

Re: AQo Party $10/20 hand
I know I'd most likely reraise at 5/10 6-max. Is the 10/20 tighter with regards to opening standards, or do two more players make a big difference?

Re: AQo Party $10/20 hand
its not tighter, but you wont get idiots calling pf reraises with A10/AJ and paying you off the whole way.
its a great way to win a small pot or lose a bigger one. there are times and people i reraise with AQ, but usually its bc the table is shorter, or the guy is nuts. w/o any read though, reraising aq is prob not the best play. |

Re: AQo Party $10/20 hand
I fold preflop. You're behind so often, you really need a read to play. Unless you're a diablo-ish superstar, but then you'd know what to do.
Flop is good. Check Turn (big mistake to bet) As turn played, fold to raise. |

Re: AQo Party $10/20 hand
As someone else mentioned, the turn bet is no good, especially because of its size. It LOOKS like you are afraid of your hand or that you have a flush draw. After all, if you really liked your hand, you would've bet more to protect a possibly bigger flush draw. So he could be making this move on you with aq, kq, or jq, with the non queen card being a spade. OR he could be making the play with a real hand such as two black aces, two black kings, a small flush, or a set. Who knows?
In fact, I think even better than checking the turn is betting it big, say 700 because THEN if he check raises all in you know you're done because he thinks you're pot committed with whatever you have, even though you're not. 600 into 3000 Is still not good enough if he has a set and you're drawing dead or if he has a flush, maybe even king high. His reaction to your 700 bet would define his hand. It's better than what happened or even worse, you both check and then he leads out for a grand on the river. THEN what the hell do you do?? Sticky situation, I hate AQ. Thinking about it more and more, it may not be that horrible of an idea to lay it down pf, for the mere reason that it is a very difficult hand to play. AQ blows. If I never got AQ or AJ again, I wouldn't complain. |
