QJs
Canterbury 30/60 9 handed
I am running good and won about 2 racks, which i have racked up as i am leaving when the BB gets to me. I have shown down only solid hands here, so i am assuming my image is TAG. I open raise UTG+2 with Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. A Canterbury regular cold calls in the CO. He plays pretty well (although I did see him CC once with Q9s which is suspect IMHO) and i think he respects my play. SB and BB both call. Flop 4 ways: A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] checks to me, I bet, CO raises, blinds fold, I call. Turn: 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] I check, CO checks. River: 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I bet........... EDIT: I should add that I have made a few folds to CO in other pots, so he is aware that i can let go of a hand. I also think/know that he is capable of getting cute on scary boards. |

Re: QJs
I like it. Then again this is my first post ever here so I'm not sure if you guys care about my opinion .
Can a case not be made for simply mucking to the flop raise however? |

Are you trying to make a bluff or value bet?

Re: QJs
i dont know much about canterbury regulars, but every other regular in other cities and cardrooms that ever respected my play only raised and ace/better or k-high flush draw(not really tho) here. fold the flop.

Re: QJs
eh.
Mucking the flop is ok. calling is ok. river I don't really like but it's not the worst. |

Re: QJs
I think I would muck to the flop raise but if I didn't and the turn went check check, I think a river bluff is probably +EV. Will they call a river bet with AJ without the J of diamonds?

Re: QJs
I would have folded to the flop raise. That said, if you're willing to bet this river after a turn check, I think leading on the turn is a better option. Face him with the prospect of calling a turn and river bet at least. I'd probably check fold the river.

Re: QJs
Hi Bob,
I'd like your river bluff a lot more on the turn. If you are going to call the flop, which is suspect, you should bet this turn as it looks completely reasonable that you a) have a big diamond, and b) are concerned that he will check behind. Face him with the prospect of having to call not only 1, but 2 bets, and he's more likely to muck then he is after check-checking the turn. my 2 cents. eric |
