Default Welcome Back Kotter

After recently watching the '97 and 2002 WSOP and other older televised tournament I am really liking Mr. Kotter, Gabe Kaplan's commentary. He might be dry and boring to listen to, but at personally I much prefer an anouncer who knows his stuff over one who is just there is keep the broadcast livley by cracking jokes and using tons of analogies.

I also like how Gabe Kaplan has played with many of the top players before, so he is familar with their play and this give an indepth view on the player.

I am all for bringing back Mister Kotteaaaar.

I was thinking that too watching the 2002 WSOP last night. Also it was a double take moment seeing Raymer several times in the stands right in front of a player's cheering section.

Bring him back and get rid of Norman Chad!

I believe that was Fossilmans first WSOP appearance. Anyone know how he did?

I was watching the 2002 WSOP tonight and I was thinking the exact same thing. So long as he shaves and shows up sober, since I don't think he did either in 2002.

Edit: By the way, you stole my idea for a post.

I'm not sure, but is this fellow back on for the commentary? Or do you want him back?

Just from watching several of the past WSOP's on ESPN Classic, he is miles ahead of Norman Chad. Kaplan knows the game enough to be able to comment on it without sounding like a jackass and his jokes are funny and it doesn't seem like he's reading them.

If I am able to talk to Greg tomorrow I will ask him where he finished in the 2002 WSOP.

This was the first thing that came to mind for me watching the 2003 series last year, I couldn't figure out why he was gone....Maybe they wanted someone who was not actually entered in the tournament? Does anyone know if Gabe still plays the main event?

Greg got busted on the 3rd day ( out of 5), when Tony D( maybe someone else who is overly agressive) tried to reraise Greg out of the pot pre-flop with T7o when Greg had AQ. I believe Tony made a straight but I could be wrong. Greg had a pretty good stack at the time.

He is spending long hours trying to get Washington, Vinny Barberetti, Juan, and Horshack together for a reunion show.
I loved that show

He plays in the WSOP and other large buy-in events, just check the result for the $10,000 tournament at the Mirage last August.
