[holdem2000]

I recently was playing 15/30 on partypoker and discovered a 6 handed table with an average pot of $281, so I sat down. I quickly realized that stealthguy was playing very badly, calling preflop for any number of bets, was capping the turn with gut shots, etc. I desperately tried to get the player to play me heads up on a private table and eventually did. I then won about $3250 from him in about 90 hands. Obviously he must have been playing horribly; he only folded 5 times, he raised with any pair frequently, he capped draws, etc. For example:

Partypoker has contacted me saying that the play between us was suspicious and they temporarilly closed both of our accounts.

I called partypoker and explained the situation to them and they said taht nobody played as badly as stealthguy had and that what we did wasn't poker and was just using a private table to make a transfer between accoutns. I told them that this wasn't so and that he was just losing money to me fair and square, but they insisted that there was a superior explanation, even though when they contacted stealthguy, his explaination was his stupidity.

So partypoker will not unfreeze either of our accounts until I agree that they will give him back the money I won.

If anyone has any way I could convince partypoker that I should keep the money, or if they have any hand histories involving stealthguy, so that I could show that he was playing horribly against everybody and not just myself, your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Can you transfer funds to another player anyway? I know Pokerstars you can...you just have to send a notice via the Lobby and the amount that you wish to transfer to the player.

I would fight this...perhaps contact your lawyer. That's not right at all, what they're doing.

No way you can fight an offshore card room, particularly with a lawyer. Best thing is to keep pleading your case and hope for the best.

Why not? You can't just "hope for the best" when $3,000 is at stake. It's not ethical.

My point is that a lawyer won't do you any good. Sure, it would be nice if one would, but making a threat like that will just steel their resolve and get you nowhere.

In my experience, PP is very reasonable, and I would be surprised if they just cut off communication with him on this issue.

I don't think Zele's post has anything to do with ethics, it has to do with futility, as in the futility of trying to take legal action against an offshore entity. And $3000 is nothing compared to how much you'd have to pay a lawyer.

ask them to look first of any history of you acct playing the same table as his, at the cities you each live in, and look at his history of play. hopefully these all prove you have no relationship to this player and he is a consistant loser of large sums of money in short periods of time.

i guess that are worried you were transfering money for tax evasion purposes, but if there is no record of your accounts interacting in the past i dont see what other proof they have than those 90 hands. this is rediculous.

hiring a lawyer to legally pursue an out of country gambling operation will cost you ALOT more than 3,000 dollars.

fair enough, it couldnt hurt. although there arent too many lawyers which give free advice.
