without a read this is completely standard

i don't really mind the river raise because there are a lot of hands/players that will bet/call with worse holdings. i have a hard time seeing calling that river 3-bet being +EV without a read.

Really? I think SB bets and calls a raise with almost any spade. I think a raise is in order. 3-bet sucks but you do have to call.
