Default Small Stakes Application

I think this hand is pretty interesting with alot of SSH being applied. If its that boring feel free to ignore.

CO is this hand has TAG stats.

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (10 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
UTG calls, 3 folds, MP2 calls, 1 fold, CO calls, 1 fold, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (5 SB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, UTG checks, MP2 checks, CO bets, SB folds, Hero raises????

Do you like or dislike this line?

You have 7-ish outs in this pot, plus a slim chance of being best now. Folding out others = more likely to win if you hit your A, but also much more likely to take it down on the flop or turn (if CO was betting overs or something, he'll often fold, and everyone else is looking at 2-cold). Granted, smallish pot, but knocking out the two in the middle would be good, and improving your fold equity helps a lot. Are you willing to bet a lot of turn cards HU?

This is pretty standard IMO. You'll often take down this pot with a turn bet.

Yup I am going to Auto bet the turn. Unless I get reraised on the flop.

the concept is correct in that you are maximizing your chance to win with your overcard/bd/gutshot. but the question to ask yourself is whether 5sb is in the "big pot" threshold? making the play worth it.

if you're talking about the section that i think you're talking about, the example dictated that the player would be peeling one off anyway getting a good price on the flop, hence making the raise the better play. in this case you're getting 6-1. like the other posters said, if you feel the CO can get off a smaller piece of the flop then the play is fine.
