Default Double paired board - push the river or check behind?

There was a lot of pause in his turn call. I really can't decide if he was on some kin of flush draw or strong draw, or if he has the case jack and a worse kicker.

I'd check, can't think of enough hands he'll call with that you beat. Sure J weaker kicker or 8 might pay you a bit, but more likely he has flush or str, sometimes a boat waiting to raise. Plus I want to see his cards if he is way off here to judge the variety of donk for future hands.

BTW I'd also play the flop much harder. Either pot bet or lay for a max chk-raise

I agree.

Check the river.

I'm not sure if I would bet big on the flop. Again, it's what hands will call you that you can beat? I think the flop is a Morton's Fork situation. Either you're beaten badly or you're winning easily. So if you bet small, you lose less, if you're losing--and you keep people in the pot you're beating. But it may be a matter of opinion. If you're picking up pots in last position with nothing with large bets than you should do the same thing here when you have something. I'd hate to face a large re-raise here on the flop though.

You played the flop like a little girlie woman. Your not a girlie woman, are you? Raise it to $12-14, and then re-evaluate if they decide to call. On the turn, I like your raise, although you should have done it one street earlier. On the river, there arent a ton of hands that will call you down here ... but I think Jx and 8x will call you down often enough. I really doubt he would have checked the river with a made flush or straight. I think this is a good spot to extract value (albeit marginal)
