Thinking about this hand (always do when it costs me FT place)even if he was stealing, fold is good,as surely he has too much of his stack committed and is usually no worse than 60/40 to gamble for a nice stack at FT....you have probably guessed what my action was by now,I blame it on lack of sleep, late, tired all the usual,AMAZING how one lapse will cost you everything after 4 hours of play, but I have HOH to thank for getting me that far...sorry Dan for the last hand,I think you would have folded!!

Actually, you're probably either a flip or way behind here. Unless he's got something like A/2 (in which case you're 67/32) or 2/2 (in which case you're up 80/20), you're up against overcards or a bigger PP. So in this situation, if you want to play the hand, you have to push and expect to get called because of the great pot odds you will be giving the villian. Then expect to see overcards or a bigger pair - so either you're a flip, or way behind. So if you want to make the final table, you've got to lay this down. After hours of play, however, this isn't always easy to do when you're so close to the FT.

yup. Even if you were further from the FT, don't get too excited about little pairs.

If he had a deeper stack and could be counted upon to lay it down, I don't mind the push. But when he's already put in 1/2 his stack you KNOW you are going to be called, and with 33 that is possibly bad but almost never good.

It just takes experience to recognize the situations when your re-steal (which, pocket pair or no, this was) can and cannot work. You'll be sick about this for a while, but not forever.

Good luck,

Sam

His point with the 60/40 is that the range of hands he puts Villain on is probably a 60/40 dog versus the range of hands that would push from the BB. So Villain will think he is 40/60 and call with odds, so Hero has no fold equity, so he shouldn't have pushed with 33 given that he needs some fold equity to make the push worth it.
