The guys at the store (or someone here) can probably explain it better than me, but basically what it does is create a mini-network out of the two computers. That way you can view your old comptuer from your new one, and just copy and paste all the files over to the new computer. You just need an ethernet port on each computer. Probably a lot quicker and easier than attaching everything to e-mails.

This is pretty much correct. I use a crossover with my laptop for pokertracker. Setup can be a little tricky but a google for home networking should turn up some good step by step guides. Ultimately its not very difficult and works just as he described.

Bob, just leave all the programs installed. Delete your personaly info. Emails, poker tracker DB (I'd leave the program on for them!, hand histories, etc. Leave all programs installed or it may fix the problem.

I will say that there are only 2 things that I hate about Absolute. No 10 handed tables drives me nuts. And the tables do not auto reconnect.

Maybe you can tell them thats what 1 2+2 guy has to say. Other than that I like absolute. IMHO they try harder than the other sites (expect maybe stars and true?) I think they will turn into the little site that could.

Since they have had problems reproducing your particular problems on their test computers, this makes a lot of sense from their standpoint. They want to fix their software glitch, having your PC will allow them to do it. This alone makes it a good business move for them. Getting some extra action from you is just gravy.

Because Dell takes some time to build the computer to specifications they say it won't ship until June 22.

FWIW, the laptop I bought with the last $750 off coupon came a week earlier than Dell first estimated.

I didn't see this in the "Absolute updated their software!" thread, but one of the fixes they made really made me happy. Previously, if you were on a waiting list and your seat came up, you would click on the little "take my seat thing," and a "ghost table" would pop up in the taskbar that you couldn't sit at. You'd have to right-click and close that table in the taskbar, then reopen the table from Abso's lobby and sit down.

Now, the "take my seat" function actually works. Baby steps!

Remember to delete that very large pornography collection, before you send it.

I recently started playing at Absolute, and I have been having great experience with their customer service, but this level of commitment from a poker site blows my mind.

Congrats on your new computer situation. You might want to post in a technical forum and see what they say about completely wiping your passwords and such, while maintaining the integrity of the rest of the machine. Most techno-savvy people around will agree that a simple "delete" just won't cut it.

I agree that a 'delete' or even stuff like deleting all files and cookies, etc...won't cut it either.
Going to some tech-site is just going to confuse the hell out of me and probably isn't worth the time or energy.

I'm just going to manually change my password on each site.
So my password on empire right now might be ABCDEF and it will now become T6&d4$m or something.

I'll keep a notebook and change all of them (I don't particularly like those pass-word key or manager thingees for some reason).

Beyond that...there is obviously some level of trust going on here as well.
All I can do is hope I don't get screwed. I certainly don't think that will happen but freely admit that anything is possible.
