Re: KQ limpers to your blinds 5-5
I think it's a terrible structure because 60 BB is nowhere near enough money, it's almost as bad as party poker. I also think it's a bad structure because people are going to be constantly going allin, and going bust, and nobody likes to go bust.
I guess I am shocked because in my 5-5 game a very short stack is 120BB, and that is far from deep. --turnipmonster |

Re: KQ limpers to your blinds 5-5
Where is this?
In Socal and Vegas, I've seen no place let you buy in for more than 60x (except the 10-20 game at Bellagio). I do agree with you. I think min should be 100, maybe 80. But, they don't want people going bust with all their cash too quick, so they can get their rake. |

Re: KQ limpers to your blinds 5-5
nyc. red chip blinds and up typically have no max.
in lower stakes NL games I can understand the max buyin, but 5-5? people should be able to buyin for whatever they want. either the blinds are too high or the buyin is too low, one of the two. --turnipmonster |

Re: KQ limpers to your blinds 5-5
In LA casinos, it's a "fish" game structure----"BUY IN FOR AS LOW AS $100!!! PLAY NO LIMIT LIVE!!! WOO HOO!"
Yeah, in the Bike's $100, you can hit the felt and rebuy $150, but ya gotta hit the felt. If you go below $50, you can rebuy up to $100. The games are crazy at the $500 and below buyin limits---I think from what I've seen here in LA. you'll be hard pressed to find a reasonable buyin structure here. I think the Hustler is a bit better, with a spread $100-$300 buyin, with $2/3 blinds (could be $1/$3, I forget). Go large, start deep... Blind structure is hideous, though I do seem to walk away winner in more sessions than not. Perhaps it's the flaky fish food I use when raising. |
