Most vegans are pro-choice.

Ask her why she is in favor of killing babies but not animals.

I don't understand how my personal experience makes me stupid on a particular subject. Ignorant maybe.

1. You have to be too concerned with what you eat.
a. Does it have eggs in it?
b. Does it have geliten?

2. There are many places where you won't be able to eat when you're hungry because they don't have vegan friendly stuff

3. You have to be very concerned to get proper nutrition. Are you getting enough protien? I'd bet there are other Vitamins that don't exist in large quantities in plants (but this is just conjecture)

Paluka, your charity argument is off in part because there is such a wide variety of motivating factors for going vegan. Without knowing which ones influenced whoever the OP mentioned, its hard to give arguments against it or offer parallels to support it.

Look to see if that Vegan wears leather shoes or belts or has a leather wallet and ask them how they justify that?

I think this is a good one, better than Paluka does. Pointing out that you're a hypocrite doesn't get any better if you say, well, I'm less of a hypocrite than some other guys are. There's validity to that, but it doesn't really invalidate the point that you're a hypocrite, or the sting of that accusation.

[/ QUOTE ]

What a weird post. Paluka's post was right on, so I won't repeat it. The idea of someone's not going all out in one direction somehow invalidating the sacrifices that they do make is beyond silly. You're doing something that you believe is morally right, but you're not doing everything that you believe is morally right, so you're a hypocrite and your arguments have no merit. BS. This a clear sign of someone who has no argument, and has to resort to lame attempts at "stinging" because they can't dent the ideas behind the issue.

90% of my arguments go along these lines.

"I'm a vegan."
"Veganism isn't right."
"Why?"
"Well, do you wear leather shoes?!"

90% of people are morons.

P.S. I don't overtly use any animal products in my daily life, and haven't for years.

a good one to check is the backpack/bag that s/he is carrying. these often have leather trim that the user isn't aware of. also, silk ties/clothes are animal products.

Just to piss her off?? Because that sounds like the point of this question.

could it be that maybe we aren't meant to eat meat??

[/ QUOTE ]

Our teeth say otherwise.

(and so does my stomach)

[/ QUOTE ]

As do our brains. Meat is the reason we aren't monkeys. You don't want to devolve, do you?

[/ QUOTE ]

This is a great point. Many people think that our big evolutionary jump into bigger brains came because we started eating meat.
Plus, most of the vegans I know have some glaring deficits in nutrition. And bad skin and hair.
Plus, meat is wonderful.
