Default Halifax, Nova Scotia Casino

Last time I was at the Casino Nova Scotia in Halifax 2 years ago there were only 3 tables, but I see on the website that they are up to 6 now. How are the games and what limits do they spread?

I haven't played there, but my buddy said that they spread 5/10 and sometimes they have a 2/4 game going. Not sure about the higher limits.

I used to get there for business fairly often - there are almost no tourists in the poker room, all locals. Imagine being the only poker room in a town with five(or is it six) post secondary institutions. Some players are very bad, most are OK, and there are more than few really good players. Everybody knows everybody. An hour at the table should tell you who's who. The bad ones are really, really bad. Be nice to them, there is one guy I see there every time and he spews chips. Can't believe he isn't boke. Enjoy.

I live pretty close to the city...

They spread 2/4 on Monday through Wednesday last I checked.

Otherwise the usual game is 5/10, but they also spread 10/20 and 15/30 as well I believe.

They occasionally have different games as well depending on interest ... Example, one time I was there I think they announced they were starting an omaha hi/lo table I think.

I'm here right now - they spread 2/4 on Mon/Tues, and they usually have 4 5/10 tables and 2 10/20 tables on Fri/Sat nights

I'm not sure about Wed, Thurs, and Sun

the games are ok - not as donktastic as other 5-10 that I've played - but definitely beatable

edit: the post 2 above mine is very good in respect to how good the players are. I was actually surprised at the level of play of some players at 5-10

Used to be a regular, and found (and still find) the games quite soft. Maybe wannabe has seen something I haven't, but I see a lot of guys who talk like they know far more than most 5/10 donks, but still coldcall three bets in the small blind with any two suited. As I understand to be the case universally, the games are best after 10:00 pm when the locals start drinking. I played more 10/20 than 5/10, and it was a very good slightly laggy game, usually two or three strong players and seven or eight donators.

FYI, if you have the bankroll, 15/30 is often spread on Sunday afternoons. There's a 50/50 chance that "Steve", a local real estate magnate, will play. Imagine the nicest maniac you've ever met. He will raise with any two, and raise again, and cap the turn with 8 high. He has lots of money and has a good time gambling it up. No ego, just the desire to say "what the hell". I've seen him play ten hands in a row blind, capping every street. He'll win or lose 360 to you in a single pot and reach across the table to shake your hand. Again if you have the bankroll, I highly recommend it.

Thanks to everyone who replied. There will be a bunch of us from the Boston area heading up to Halifax this weekend for a week-long bowling tournament and I know that many of them plan on sitting in some games at night. Personally, I play the 5/10 w/kill game at Foxwoods when I can get down there. Time is more of an issue than bankroll but I look forward to playing with the locals. Everyone was very friendly when we were there 2 years ago. Do they still have the floating golf contest game outside TGIF's??
