Default 88 hand simple turn question

early morning 30+3 tourney on stars, 196 players, top 18 pay out.

100/200 blind level. average stack around 5.5k i have 7k.

i get 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] in MP and raise to 600. folded to the BB who calls. he has about 3k methinks. so pot's 1300.

flop: T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

He checks. I bet 700. He calls. So he has about 2300 left.

2700 in the pot.

Turn: J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

He checks. Whats the best plan here?

If you have him on the flush draw, you cannot give him a free card to beat you, so you have to bet.

If you have him on a slow played T, then its trickier, but with his stack being less than the pot, I don't think you can fold here.

If he raises any bet you make you are going to have to call due to pot odds, so you might as well put him to a decision and put him all in.

Woodguy

Overall a not very fun spot to be in, with his passive play he could have a wide range of hands here. But, woodguy is right, Push it in and put him to the test.

Tip your hat to him if your beat..... NH well played.

I would check this. See the river for free.
There are too many hands which have u beat or potential to river u...draws at this point would be worth his calling. You still have a good chip stack, not worth the risk at this point with 88 imo.
If he checks the river then u have a decision to make with your 8's..

What did he do on the turn? If he checked, I check behind. If he has a ten, he'll give you a much cheaper showdown then if you push on the turn. If the flush card comes out, use your positional advantage to decide on the best course of action.

I think he has a ten much more often than a flush draw here.

I am not sure I understand your thought process here. You have what could be the best hand right now and if you allow him to get to the river for free its a horrible mistake.

But, If you check here and he checks behind on the river, Why on earth would you even consider betting the river. What hands are going to call you here?

If you check here, He is pushing with a hand or with out alot of times on the river are you going to be able to call there with 88?
