Default Power Poker

Hey all,

Not sure how interesting this is, but I haven't posted a hand in forever, so I thought I would throw it out there...

5/10 NL on UB. I've been at the table for an orbit or two. EP is a relatively tight regular who I presume is a winning player. Anyway, he ($1000) limps, unknown MP ($800) limps, I ($1000) complete in the SB with T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. BB ($600) checks; 4 to the flop, which comes:

9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

I check, BB checks, EP bets pot ($40), MP folds, I call, planning to check the turn and fold to a bet unless I hit a ten.

Comments?

Check folding on the turn= weak tight.

Your opponent might also put you on a draw and get you off your hand since you have not defined it too well.

I would CR the flop, and plan on leading the turn.

so if the deuce pairs on the turn, you'll check/fold to a bet?.....and what is your plan either way for the river if the turn is checked through? (and on what cards?).....no chance you'll lead the turn?.....

What hands, other than a draw, do you play this way?

I guess the crux of this line is the assumption that a tight guy limping from EP doesn't have (and is betting) a "made" hand worse than TT on that board. I guess he could have A9s, A8s, but that is a bit loose given the description. JT is the main "un-made hand" possibility, but he'll probably take one off on the turn with that.

Why not just fold on the flop then? Hitting your ten might look like you hit your QJ or 67 and you might not get paid enough to make it worth the call.

Why didn't you lead that flop? You think he limped in EP with a higher pocket pair, scared of 98? Your line makes no sense.

Anyone make a big raise preflop here in an attempt to take this down?

i like the play once you check the flop.

...but I like I like leading at this one better, then check-folding if called by that EP guy.

edit: cute title too.

what's everyone's plan for the river if the turn gets checked and the river is a) an overcard b) a blank c) a straightmaking card?

I think this is a good line btw, as often tight players will stab on the flop and give it up if they get called. barrel two usually means a legitimate hand, which probably has you drawing quite slim. the only danger is if he puts you on a straight draw and fires again, more of a concern in a live game I think than here.
