Default fold equity in small stakes???

keep reading books where they either mention "fold equity" by name or they at least say advantage of acting last and betting flop (continuation bet??) is your opponent(s) might fold.... but at the loose passive tables i generally play (BM or internet), it just seems like at least one opponent will play to the showdown. the only exception seems to be if a 3rd flush card hits on the river. sometimes they will all fold to a bet.

three questions from this:

1) do all books (i'd say even miller SSHE) give alot more credit to our opponents than those we actually face. SSHE is more geared towards low limit, but almost all other books seems to think 3 other players seeing flop is alot.

2) i've never really had the guts to try bluffing on the river when the 3rd flush card hits, even though the three times i hit a flush on the river (last time i played), i couldn't seem to get any action... anyone tried that bluff??? somewhat dangerous as someone else can easily have the flush.

3) do people find that weaker players are more likely to fold on the turn (when bet amount doubles) or on river when there are no other cards to come???... my experience is the river with no more cards... pretty funny, i got a negreanu comment the other day, "how can you fold so much pre-flop when you haven't even seen the cards??" LOL, pretty funny, daniel said he got that line alot in vancouver and ontario casinos.

thanks in advance for any responses!!!

FE is something that is very situationally dependent. Below is a link to a thread I started a couple of months ago that deals with the idea of FE pretty well IMO.

linky.

If you know an opponent will call a flop bet all the time then you are probably ahead with AK a lot so you are actually betting for value as well. Also, HU I almost always cont bet the turn if the flop texture is good. I get a fold here quite a bit or at least charge them here for a draw. Then I chekc through the river. Agian though it depends on teh opponent. Tighter opponents will peal less liberally so you can usually give up faster. Anyways, hope this helped.
Post a specific hand...

I would just play a straight forward game in the limits up to 3/6. You don't need to try very many creative bluffs. It's not very profitable because of all the calling stations.

Trying to get 3 players to fold on the river in 2/4 party poker is tough. That's just my experience there..

guys, thanks for the responses!

can't really post a hand. but i've gone and thought about miller and gordon books amongst others, and they certainly prefer continuation bet in position against one caller and NOT against a calling station....... just seems like there are at least 4-5 people on flop (including me) where i play and i'm not going to get them all to fold (or even half of them) with continuation bet.

an interesting question is to keep betting thru flop, turn and river and maybe they'll fold but that can get expensive.

against one person on the flop, you can put in a strong continuation bet with an AKo that missed the flop.
