Continuation bet this flop?

I've been working on recognizing when a continuation bet OOP with whiffed overcards into a big field is a bad idea.

Opinions?

Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
1 fold, MP calls, 1 fold, Button calls, SB completes, Hero raises, MP calls, Button calls, SB calls.

Flop: (8 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players)
SB checks, Hero..

I don't mind checking here since there's little chance of winning the pot here or buying the button.

I would bet this one to thin the field, with your 2 overcards/gutshot, if even one person folds that seems ok for you.

Id say this hand is a nice illustration of just that. The odds this flop missed the entire field is remote.

This is a tricky situation but I'm usually going to bet it. I hate anyone trying to run me over & showing weakness is inviting this. I figure you have 10 outs & the remote possibility that you are ahead on the flop. If I've been running really hot at the table, this is the situation where I will check when I missed & peel the turn & then re-evaluate.
