Re: LOL..forgot to list which ones im talking about
Actually, from what I understand poker 'pros' go broke all the time. It is just the nature of the beast I guess. That being said, most of them can get backers and have the poker ability to get back on their feet, so 'going broke' is not a big a liability as it may seem to us laymen who have to hoard our paychecks and play 3-6 omaha till we can get our roll back.

Re: LOL..forgot to list which ones im talking about
Forget your list
How about: T.J. - if his wife is not in charge of his money Harman - plays too much high limit Krux - $1 million at last year's WSOP, but a disaster waiting to happen |

[ QUOTE ] OK... i meant from these players: - Daniel N - Ivey - Erick L - MM - magician [/ QUOTE ] wait. are you saying it's not obvious who the weakest player in that group is? all things being equal, if those guys played in every big event for 2 years starting today, i'd guess moneymaker would be begging for his accounting job on 5/3/07. after that, maybe antonio (high variance style). daniel plays a similar style, but would survive it if he ran bad (assuming his roll is 2-3x antonios). ivey won't go broke any time soon. i don't know how good lindgren is, but he seems pretty solid. [/ QUOTE ] MM is chris moneymaker? i always thought when people typed MM on 2+2 they were talking about Mason. i guess the WPT forum has a lot of its own conventions though. anyway... Mason is a better player and is a more notable Noted Poker Authority, i think he should get the abbreviation. |

Re: LOL..forgot to list which ones im talking about
Well out of that lineup i will say Mattusow. As he most likely has the least money now. And he also doesn not have the sponsorship of the other guys. Probably all of these guys would be brok again if not for the celebrity money(books,tv,movies, whatever). This will keep people like daniel negreanu's from going broke for a long time probably.

Krux - $1 million at last year's WSOP, but a disaster waiting to happen [/ QUOTE ] Fairly sure Krux sold most of himself and only got like 1/10th of what he won. |

Re: LOL..forgot to list which ones im talking about
DN, Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen, etc, are just to good to go broke, they play in the biggest game in the world, it is not that tough to move down a bit and destroy any game they enter. Oh, and whoever said Jennifer Harman, please say you're joking.

Re: LOL..forgot to list which ones im talking about
These players ego's will not allow themselves to move down. And Gus Hansen too good? LOL. And DN has already gone broke before after having money so i guess he wasn't that good.

Re: LOL..forgot to list which ones im talking about
most of the players named don't play exclusively $4k-$8k in the bellagio, so I don't think your comment about their egos is even close to realistic. And yes, Hansen is extremly good.
PS: and as someone already said, some of these players were smart enough to create extra sources of income that won't allow them to go broke. |
