New tourney guy...wants to be aggressive
I'm just starting out playing in tournaments...small buy-ins (under $100)...I've bought a few tournament poker books like HOH vol, 1 & 2...and TPFAP...and my struggle is...it is a struggle for me to play tight at the start of the tourney...although I understand this is probably correct strategy...so if you had this difficulty...how did you overcome it...yea...I like to play alot of hands.

Re: New tourney guy...wants to be aggressive
Actually in the low buy-in tournaments, I prefer to limp almost every suited connector and almost always try to see a flop with pocket pairs early on. Don't play aggressive until you have a real hand, though.
At the beginning, a few of the people at your table are likely to be spewing chips. Take your chances if your BR allows it to make a few coinflip decisions. I've been busted with AK on the first hand by a pocket pair, but it was definitely worth it, because if I had busted him I would've been able to accumulate a much bigger stack more easily. |
