because the specific albums you recommended are easily not the best for that artist. the killers suck. and everyone else is cliche and obvious.

Hip Hop / Rap --- A Tribe Called Quest - People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm and The Low End Theory Atmosphere - The Lucy Ford EPs, God Loves Ugly and You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having Dr. Dre - The Chronic and 2001 Jay-Z - pretty much every album NWA - Straight Outta Compton Stuff Indie Peoples Like But I Don't See Mentioned Much --- Beta Band - The 3 EPs and Hot Shots II Cake - pretty much every album Daft Punk - Discovery Neko Case - Blacklisted Pavement - Slanted & Enchanted and Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain Guilty Pop / Rock Pleasures Of Mine --- Fastball - All the Pain Money Can Buy Jack Johnson - Brushfire Fairytales and In Between Dreams Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory (yes, I like this album.) Lit - A Place in the Sun Something Corporate - Leaving Through the Window Jack's Mannequin - Everything in Transit (piano-pop solo project of SC's lead singer, with Tommy Lee on drums) And a couple albums I've been name-dropping in threads but haven't seen pop up in many other's lists/posts: Oranger - New Comes and Goes Junior Senior - D-D-Don't Stop the Beat and Hey Hey My My Yo Yo And I'll tack on some general love for Rage Against the Machine, Reel Big Fish, Incubus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, No Doubt, Matchbox 20 and Third Eye Blind. Now that my indie cred is shattered, I'll go in crawl into a corner and listen to some Neutral Milk Hotel so I feel clean again.
