Default just how much attention do I need to win?

Do you think it's possible for a decent (but not great)5/10 player to win at Party 3/6, paying virtually no attention? In other words, could that player win while ONLY looking at the table when his turn to act arises?

(Not that I'd be stupid enough to try this, but I have a "friend" who is trying to meet deadlines for filing legal briefs while sneaking in poker whenever possible.)

I think it's more than possible to make 3/100 10-tabling 3/6 6 easily, I can't imagine how you'd be able to spend any more time at a specific table and actions 10-tabling than you would in your scenario. I think he's going to lose a lot of money by table mistakes, though.

To put it differently, you believe it's possible to win at Party 3/6 specifically, without ANY information on players (aside from perhaps the most basic stats with a HUD - i.e., VP$P, pfr and aggression)?

Yes, I think it's possible. I've been doing it now for the last couple of weeks. Between end of the year paperwork and regular work load, I'll play one or two tables in the background when I'm not extremely busy.

So far, I'm doing fairly well at 2/4 (some full ring and some SH). Might just be good cards, though.

Edited: I get decent reads just from the hands I actually go to the river with. If somebody is out of the ordinary enough to notice, it doesn't take much to make a note of it.

I think most people play like this. Read websites, watch TV, play music, chat on phone & AIM, and also multitable some poker.
