Why? People who try to hit and run are usually bad and produce action. Often they will keep pulling out hundred after hundred if they get cracked too. So what if someone parlays $400 in $2000 and leaves. That's life (and also, I've found this to be exceedingly rare). I personally have no problem with the buy-in rules since I don't buy short. But I think if someone gets cracked for, say, $6000 in the yellow game and they only have $1000 left, they should CERTAINLY get a shot to put it in play. They will probably give it away anyway. And if they get lucky and build it up, that's poker (plus they will prob continue playing badly trying to get even which may tilt others and contribute to the game's overall action). If you make them leave if they can't produce $2000, they might not come back to donate more money.

I just don't get why people get upset about hit and run in a public cardroom.

Nothin I would say applies to AC, these are standard buy-ins for normal poker rooms.

People who try to buy in short after getting tapped are usually not playing well. I want their action. Also, if you tell them they have to come up with 2k, they may leave and not come back. But if you allow them the short buyin, they may lose it and then go get more money to lose. Malmuth actually mentions this in one of his poker essays books...sometimes you don't want to enforce short buy-in restrictions if it makes it more likely someone will go off for all their money.

This is a minor issue to me b/c people at Borg generally always come up with lots of hundred dollar bills. I just think the regulars who wanted these buyin rules are not really thinking it through.

this would be the scenario which i described earlier, if this -$6000 guy puts in his last bet on the river, nobody raises, he would be able to rebuy for his $1000 if he wasnt considered all-in and would be shut out if he was (in a game where the min was > 1000)

If this guy had 160 left (or less), bet it and got called, then lost, he DID go all-in and would have to come up with a complete buy-in. That's my understanding and I'm pretty sure it's correct. If he, for example, had $180 left (one additional chip) and his bet was called (and he lost), he could rebuy in for whatever he wanted b/c he was not all in.

The problem is by your thinking you could rarely be 'all-in' heads up. If you bet your last $100 and we're heads up you would never be all-in since I can't raise as you have no money left.

Once you make a bet with your last chip and it's called those chips are in the pot and you have gone all-in.

This never happens. When headsup, and the other guy bets all his chips...I do not say raise because, well, people will laugh at me. People call these bets.

If by calling the bet and going all in result in the same action (putting all your chips in the pot so that there is no more playable currency in front of you), then you have gone all in.
