Re: Best compliment you\'ve ever been given
This reminds me of a story.
When I was in college, I went to the liquor store to stock up for the weekend in my usual getup: filthy brown corduroy jacket, old jeans, and most likely reeking of some substance or another. I was walking around a display and almost ran into a 45-50ish lady. I said "excuse me" and dodged her. While I was looking at the vodkas, she came back back around the corner, and the following conversation ensued: "Sir, are you alright?" "Me?" "Yes" "Yeah, I'm fine I guess" (she looks at me funny for about 4 seconds) "I like the look of you. You're going to do some really good things, I'm sure of it." "Uh, thanks" "Good luck to you" And she walked away. Never seen her before or since. Not that interesting I guess, but I'll probably never forget it. |

Re: Best compliment you\'ve ever been given
[ QUOTE ]
Wow, for a pretty cool topic this thread has become super-lame. [/ QUOTE ] What he said. I can't think of anything really quotable. A few random compliments do come to mind: One girl in high school came up to me after I gave a speech to class and said I had a nice, deep speaking voice. Another time in high school one of my wrestling teamates, a jock [censored] I really hated, watched me do my pre-game strecthing and told me I had really good balance. In my freshman college writing course, my professor gave my an A+ on a short summary writing assignment, and asked me if I had any special training in highschool writing summaries. One girl told me "I've never felt this way" when I was eating her out. I guess the best I can come up with is: An ex-girlfriend once told me that she was discussing my qualities with her friends, and when I inquired what they were, she included 'funny, smart, and really good in bed'. That's literally every compliment I can remember that didn't come from my parents. I'm sure I've had some number of "good job" type compliments from bosses, and "you are smart" type compliments from various people, but nothing that is memorable. This is rather depressing, since none of these were worth posting, and moreover, I can't seem to recall receiving a compliment in the last 7-10 years, which includes the entire length of time I've known my wife. |

Re: Best compliment you\'ve ever been given
I forget the exact wording, but it was something like...
"----- wants to talk to you" or "Here, talk to ----- for a minute" ...either way, made my day. |
