Default 99: Am I insane?

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is CO with 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

Flop: (9 SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players)
SB checks, MP1 bets, MP3 folds, Hero raises, SB folds, MP1 calls.

Turn: (6.50 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
MP1 checks, Hero bets, MP1 folds.

Final Pot: 7.50 BB

Am I a maniac for playing this hand like this? I've been in a lot of situations like this lately where villian called down and showed me (for instance) a weak ace or queen, and the recent frequency of this suggests to me that I may be getting overly aggressive with middle pocket pairs on boards with big overcards. This is one case where it worked, but I think I might have gotten lucky and scared MP1 into folding the best hand.

If he check-raised me on the turn, I'd have to fold. If he only called and checked to me on the river, I'd probably just check it through.
