15 minutes.

"How near is the closest one ?"

I'm 8 miles from Arizona Charlie's (west) but I don't play there much. When Red Rock opens I'll have a poker room only 2 miles away. Woo-Hoo!

I have a place in Henderson. With no traffic, 10 minutes to the strip. With traffic, up to 40. Depends on the time of day and if there is any special construction or accidents. Twice since I have been here they have closed the onramp to I-15 South from 215 and you have to take a crazy long way around. I usually go to the strip during the time of day where it takes ~10 minutes though. GVR is the closest poker room to me. ~1 minute drive.

From casino to casino on the strip all depends on time of day or time of year (i.e. special events in town or New Years Weekends, etc.) Wynn to Bellagio is anywhere from ~3 minutes to ~45 minutes. It can be that crazy.

I am 15-20 minutes from any strip/downtown casino. The nearest poker room to me is about 2.5 miles from my home, maybe five minutes of driving time. I live in Henderson, which is a southeastern suburb of Las Vegas.

do you live in Summerlin? My brother who lives there keeps talking about the Red Rock poker room saying its going to be one of the biggest one's in Vegas. Is this true? is it going to be a local-catering-jackpot-drop kind of place? or an off strip attraction for tourists? Is it a station casino? anything you know would be great... thanks

"do you live in Summerlin?"

Yes.

"My brother who lives there keeps talking about the Red Rock poker room saying its going to be one of the biggest one's in Vegas. Is this true?"

I don't think of 15 tables as being "big" but 15 is better then 10.

"is it going to be a local-catering-jackpot-drop kind of place? or an off strip attraction for tourists? Is it a station casino?"

It's a Station's casino. They (Station's Brass) think of it (Red Rock) as "GVR North". At least that's what they have been telling me. btw, GVR North would imply an upscale Station casino/hotel ala Green Valley Ranch.

When I asked the Red Rock poker room manager about the $4 rake at GVR coming to RR, he told me his hands are pretty much tied there.

$4 rake and all, I'll still be there in the front row. YMMV.

I'm glad you posted this - we are coming to Vegas in Feb. for a conference which is at Mandalay Bay - but we love GVR and were thinking of staying there and driving to MB each morning (to get there before 8:00am) and coming back in the early evening or late afternoon. Would that be ridiculous/impossible?
We already have a room reserved in Thehotel.

Slightly off topic: Anyone know what happended to that serises American Casino that was shot at GVR? No american site I seen had any episodes listed after the new years eve one, but here (Sweden) discovery started showing some eps that came after that and then just stopped. Is it canceled or what?

*edit* the new years eve one was the last I saw apperently, but acccording to tv.com it is not yet even aired in the us.
