Starting hands question
I just started playing Omaha HiLo at a home game (pot limit). I suck at selecting my starting hands. Watching it on ESPN coverage, I hear Norman Chad talking about "cards that are straightening" as being an attractive starting hand, but reading Bob Ciaffione (?)'s book, it sounds as if small and middle straights are just money traps.
Would I be better off, just starting out, to look for suited Aces and high pairs? If you have 3-4 people to the show down, will a straight win the pot?

Although I am a few episodes behind on watching the ESPN coverage, I belive they only show pot limit Omaha High. The middle connectors are far more playable in high only since when they hit they do not split the pot. In high low they either make a nut str8 and split the pot with a low hand, or make bottom str8 and may win none of the pot against a larger str8. Would I be better off, just starting out, to look for suited Aces and high pairs? If you have 3-4 people to the show down, will a straight win the pot? [/ QUOTE ]
