Default can satalite cable work for internet gaming

I plan to move to the country and the only available internet connection is satalite(direct way). Will this work for internet gaming(poker)? Is anyone using this now? Is there a satalite delay? Any and all help would be appreciated.

Yes there is "lag" with satellite. If it is the type of satellite internet that is only download and uses a POTS connection (dial-up) for your upload then there will be no benefit for online poker. Regular dial-up works fine for multitabling but disconnections are a bitch.
