If the student had put the red thumbtack at the top of the picture instead of through the presidents head there would not be a story.

If I did the same thing 10 years ago with a picture of Clinton the secret service would be investigating me. They investigate anyone who suggests assassination of the president.

Do you think the secret service should stop its policy of investigating anyone who suggests the assassination of the president?

Wow, it's like we're living in Stalinist Russia. The kid made a suspicious poster, and then those jack-booted thugs from the Secret Service had the gall to ASK HIM QUESTIONS ABOUT IT! Jefferson must be spinning in his grave.

Are you serious? It isn't totalitarianism but there is still something seriously wrong with being paid a Secret Service visit for something as innocuous as this. At the very least it's a ridiculous waste of SS resources.

Once the Secret Service gets a complaint like this they have to investigate. Any more info on the 'tard at Wal-Mart that thought this needed to be reported? It may be entertaining to hear what he/she has to say.

You would probably say the same thing about the reason the secret service first visited Sam Byck. Eventually he attempted to kill Nixon by hi-jacking a passenger jet in order to fly it into the Whitehouse.

Their is some subjectivity involved. Way back in the early 70's Groucho Marx and some Black Panther dude both said Nixon should be killed. The BP dude was investigated because he was a known criminal, but Groucho was ignored because he was, as the gov't said "An alleged comedian..."

So, some radio DJ said on the air "I'm an alleged comedian and I think Richard Nixon should be killed". He too was ignored.

Now somebody who might be a radical student, especially in these times probably won't get a free pass.
