I don't like raising JJ UTG because it's way too likely that you'll find yourselves in these kinds of situations. I would likely also likely bet the flop, fold to a raise and slow down if I'm called.

sorry limping with JJ is not in my playbook. i raise it utg at a full table. i want to play a decent sized pot against one or two opponents, not a smallish pot against a lot of limpers.

Well it should be. JJ is good, but not good enough to play OOP at a full table.

EDIT: Also, what hands that don't beat you do you think any decent player would pay you off with? AT's TPTK isn't going to pay off an UTG raiser on a T high board.

not sure i would call most people at the party 6 max tables decent players.

i didn't think i could fold for a bet this size on the river the way the hand was played, so i bet myself. he could fold a better hand. this is a scary river card.

maybe it is better to induce a bluff?

Whoops, one thing I didn't realize is that this was 6-max. In that case, raising JJ UTG is fine, but I still don't like it at a full table. Also, doesn't Harrington's book deal with tourney play? I don't see how you can possibly compare a tournament situation with what's going on here.
