Six games doesn't sound like a lot, but the Sox have 20 games left and the Tribe has 18. That's going to be tough to overcome. Just to give you an idea, if the Sox finish off the year at .500 -- just 10-10, Cleveland needs to finish off their last 18 games at 15-3 just to tie and force a 1-game playoff. Every game the White Sox have remaining is against the AL Central, against which they're 40-14. Therefore the chances they'll finish at or below .500 in thier last 20 is very unlikely.

Arthur Rhodes is leaving the Indians for the remainder of the season.

Rhodes has been excellent this year with a 2.08 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and 43 Ks in 43.1 IP. He missed almost all of August for the same family reasons in the linked article.

Rhodes was the #1 lefty in the Cleveland bullpen. His role will be taken by Scott Sauebeck.

It all depends on how they play the Sox. If they can get the better of them they have a chance. If not, I don't like their chances in the Wild Card.

They are as hot as can be right now and the White Sox are slumping. The White Sox have games against Det and KC so they should win some there. They also have two series against Minn. Minn. is a funny team and can sweep or be swept. The way they are playing, more likely they will be swept. The only other series are two against the Indians. Thus, if they can beat the sox in those 6 games, they have a good chance at winning the division. If not, I don't think the wild card chance is very good, but still possible because the other teams are not entirely strong and have to play two more games than the Indians which is a chance for two more losses.

WOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!

2 run HR in the middle of the game then 3 run HR in the 8th BOTH from Broussard. This team is deep.

On another note, it's too bad about Rhodes. He was very, very dependable for the Tribe this year and one of the main reasons the Indians have the best bullpen in the MLB. I expect him to be replaced with Francisco Cordero, who has been either very hot or very cold this season in few appearances.

And they have two series with Kansas City coming up. They're the favorite to be the wild card.

The Sox have already damaged the Tribe to the tune of a 10-3 record this season. Why would anybody count on that?
