Default time for a cooperation play?

Hi all. I'm wondering what the right move in this situation is. Do I call with the intention of checking it down with BB, or is my hand good enough to reraise and isolate? UTG is desperate, so he's pushing with a lot of hands that I'm way ahead of. But is this the right time for some implicit collusion/cooperation (or whatever it's called) or should I go for the chips?

Party Poker Pot-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t300 (4 handed) converter

UTG (t330)
Button (t3585)
Hero (t1735)
BB (t2350)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].

I call and hope to check it down. If you push BB out here and lose, it'll make it much harder to come in third.

I think 99 is very strong, and I think t300 in dead money here would be very nice to you.

I'm overpushing, but it might be a mistake.

I'll push with hands considerably worse than 99 here.

You push, force BB out, coinflip up against UTG getting 2:1 = good stuff.

I guess the stack's aren't extreme enough. If Hero had 1k, this'd be a call right?

You're likely to be ahead, but not by as much as you'd like. The only hands you dominate are lower pairs and maybe 87, 76 and a few others. Shorty is desperate, but still probably throwing away 86 and worse. His most likely holding is two overcards, followed by one overcard (he's probably pitching his lower Tx, Jx, and maybe even Qx), and even one overcard will beat you one time out of four.

An added benefit to the sidepot is that it will make the big blind easy to read when you do let him into the hand. If he's betting and there are overcards on the board, then you are probably beat. On the off chance that he's got an overpair or something like an AK that's going to hit, you won't get busted like you would by re-raising.
