Re: please tell me why this isn\'t an error in party\'s software
[ QUOTE ]
It's a bug because the action should not be re-opened on a "raise" that is less than the amount of the original raise. The all in player is effectively calling, not raising, and therefor Winston shouldn't have the option or re-raising. This is definately a glitch in the software. [/ QUOTE ] Yes, the original raiser cannot reraise if there has only been made a call with additional chips. But in this case Winston was not the original raiser, ME was. Therefor Winston is able to raise again - but ME is not. Had Winston only called, ME would only be able to call. Since Winston had his action reopened, and raised, ME would also be able to raise again - provided ME had enough/more chips. |

Re: please tell me why this isn\'t an error in party\'s software
It's a quite common question that we get from time to time in support. "I wasn't allowed to raise, I demand a refund -- your software sucks"...

Absolute has the opposite problem
The other day a 5-handed 5/10 limit hold'em game at Absolute went:
SB posts $3, BB (me) posts $5, and UTG posts $5. UTG checks, two folds, SB puts his last $4 all-in, and I search in vain for the raise button. My only choices are call the $2 or fold. |

This is definitely much more annoying, in no limit, pacific CLOSES the action when someone goes all in for less than a raise, even to people who haven't had a chance to respond to the raise yet. This was very annoying. |

Re: please tell me why this isn\'t an error in party\'s software
According to the rule you quoted from Ciaffone, WinstonSomme should NOT have been allowed to re-raise.
From the OP ** Dealing Flop ** [ 7h, 9c, 8h ] poppos checks. MNparks bets [$2]. MoxNix folds. cart5r folds. Bills_420 calls [$2]. DEETEE calls [$2]. ME raises [$4]. WinstonSomme calls [$4]. poppos folds. MNparks is all-In [$2] Bills_420 folds. DEETEE is all-In [$2.73] ME calls [$0.73]. WinstonSomme is all-In [$17.75] ME folds. From the bible: 3. All raises must be equal to or greater than the size of the previous bet or raise on that betting round, except for an all-in wager. A player who has already checked or called may not subsequently raise an all-in bet that is less than the full size of the last bet or raise. (The half-the-size rule for reopening the betting is for limit poker only.) DEETEE’s “raise” of .73 is a good deal less than the $2.00 raise. I think there is also something in Ciaffone’s book PLNLHE about this very problem and that some games don’t handle it properly. Maybe this is one… |
