Default donkey or mastermind?

Level 2 of a big buy in tournament. I catch top pair with a weak kicker. I know i'm behind, but go ahead and call the bets anway. What the hell, it's early and i'm not going to bust. One of two things happen. I pick up the win at showdown, or i lose the hand at showdown, and show the table my weak kicker and a loose range of hands. Helps get calls later. Anyone disagree with this type of play early on?

Better to raise and possibly get a free card (maybe even take down the pot). If you don't get the free card, best to just toss. The table wont need to see your cards to know what you were doing.

whats happens if you go cold , and all you can do is bluff and steal pots later on? if you want to give ppl that impression of loose they are gonna call you.i say having a tight image is best.
