Default $ 10 + 1 buy in: What would YOU do?

Every now and then I play the low-limit tourneys. But I find it frustrating. Rookie-players make the wildest plays and sometimes I wonder if I should just leave it and play higher stakes where the world at least is somewhat less random. What would you have done in this situation?

** Game ID 319341086 starting - 2005-09-20 22:44:37
** $6,500 GUARANTEED:Table 32 [Multi Table Hold 'em] (150.00|300.00 No Limit - MTT) Real Money

It's 45 minutes into the tourney. I'm averaged stacked with slightly more then 3 K in chips and sitting in the BB when I pick up

5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

One EP calls, CO calls, BB (me) checks, rest of table folds. Flop is

5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

I'm first to act and bet 500 into the 450 pot to define my hand and put pressure on any flush draws. The EP fold. After a long think the CU (with 5K in chips) raises to 3K.

I rule out AA, JJ or the nut flush A, he would've raised with the two first holdings preflop, and called with the nut flush A now. The most likely holding is two low spades and a fear that I hold the nut A. But I smell a rat, so I go all-in with my last 2.5K chips.

The gentleman flips over

A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

So my set is good and I'm happy to have doubled up. Then the turn comes:

4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

And the river:

2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I was about to do a Phil Helmuth and drop my PC in the pool, but managed to just compliment the guy with brilliant play.

What would you have done? Check the flop? Get out after his 3K raise? Quit playing low-limit? Quit playing poker? Kill yourself?

You're being too results-oriented.

It's annoying, absolutely. But it happens. Be glad the fish sometimes win, otherwise they wouldn't stick around for so long and there'd be a lot less of them.

Stick to bracelet events and you should do fine.

This is such a shameless bad beat post. You get all in on the flop with a set against a pair and ask what you could've done differently? Not walked infront of a broken mirror this morning...

You played this very well. Get your money in here every time.

one, the pot can never be 450. it's either 525 or 350. do you see why?

second, you are horrible.

third, it's quite likely that some random could limp with JJ/AxKs. since it doesn't matter and you're never folding this hand unless you have some read and he most likely has a flush here.

soo nice bad beat post. YSSCKY.

The highest limits I'll play right now are $10+1 buyins and I don't do those things...

The play was bad regardless, but look at it from his point of view. He probably doesn't give anybody credit so probably thought you were betting the flush draw (as many do at these stakes) and wanted to drive you out. Or he could be one of those people that doesn't even bother with reading people...and just thought his hand was good.

I would not get bad-beat. You should've seen this one coming and demanded they change the deck before this hand.

Heres a really great site where you can talk about how to beat these super loose, terrible players.
